Sometimes things feel like they will be grey and heavy forever, like they don’t make sense and never will. But if you hang in there, a breath at a time, an hour at a time, a day at a time, it always does again... eventually.
“Hope Sings” is a four part series of mixed media paintings (acrylic, pencil and watercolour) on 20cm x 20cm ethically handmade 100% cotton rag Khadi paper.
I started these in the first lockdown. For ages, I didn’t know what to do next with them. I’ve just managed to finish them now, months later, in the second lockdown.
Working on these has helped me a lot this week, with a close friend passing away and my feeling very isolated with lockdown. They’ve helped me remember the bright bits.
May they bring hope and light to you, too.
Available for purchase, $140 each, or all four for $490 (that’s a saving of $70). Does not include frames or postage. Contact me to buy.

I’m selling these works as part of the #artistsupportpledge. Each time I reach $1,000 artwork sold as part of this series, I pledge to invest $200 in buying another artist’s work.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many artists around the world have found themselves without work, teaching, technical support, gallery work, exhibitions and sales have disappeared. In an attempt to help alleviate some of this stress @matthewburrowsstudio has instigated the #artistsupportpledgeThe concept is a simple one. You post images of your work to sell for no more than $200 (£200, €200, ¥20000) each (not including shipping.) Anyone can then buy the work. Every time you reach $1000 of sales you pledge to buy another artist's work for $200.
